Coronation Weekend

The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort is a time for celebration and includes a weekend of special events to mark the Coronation, as well as events throughout May and June.

Saturday 6 May 

The Coronation Ceremony will take place in Westminster Abbey, London. You can find out more about the Coronation, the history, the Crown jewels, the selected music and lots more on The Royal website.  

Westminster Abbey have launched a Coronation Club for children to learn more about the historic service, with a series of videos for children aged 7-11 available online.  

Sunday 7 May   

Coronation Big Lunches will happen up and down the country and the Commonwealth, bringing neighbours and communities together to share friendship, food and fun. 

Sign up to receive a Coronation Big Lunch pack for ideas, top tips and practical advice. The packs are available from Eden Project Communities.  

The website also includes a 'stuff you can do' page which is full of amazing ideas, from arts and crafts and places and spaces suggestions of how to make your community greener, to health and wellbeing ideas.

In the evening, the Coronation Concert will be performed at Windsor Castle with a live broadcast on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, BCC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds. 

Monday 8 May  

Today, members of the public are invited to join in with The Big Help Out and try volunteering opportunities in their local community.  

From 20 March, The Big Help Out website will have a full list of the opportunities you can try, including ways individuals, volunteer organisations and businesses can get involved.
