On Thursday 06 October 2016, voters in took to the polls to vote in the Parish of Ely - North Ward By-Election.
Polling stations nationwide opened at 7am and closed at 10pm.
The count venue was the Council Chamber, East Cambridgeshire District Council.
The turnout was announced as 16.17%.
At 23.03pm, the Returning Officer, John Hill, declared the count totals, which are as follows:
The total number of ballot paper counted was 855
The number of votes cast in favour of Edward Bengt Carlsson Browne (Labour Party) - 179
The number of votes cast in favour of Mark Cooney (Spotted in Ely) - 118
The number of votes cast in favour of Richard Gareth Llewelyn Morgan (no description) - 124
The number of votes cast in favour of John Yates (Independent) - 429
The total number of rejected ballot papers was 5.
The winning candidate is confirmed as John Yates.
