Postal votes now issued

Reference:

Thousands of postal vote packs are being delivered to homes across East Cambridgeshire from today.

To help those who are new to this type of voting, the Electoral Services team is giving the following advice, as the elections in May, draw closer:
  • Ballot papers will be sent in the post. If it does not arrive, contact the team after 30 April for a replacement ballot paper.
  • Voters will need to give their date of birth and signature on their postal vote. This information is needed to tackle fraud.
  • Please make sure the postal vote arrives by election day, otherwise it will not be counted. A Freepost envelope is included in the postal ballot pack.
  • If it is too late to send the postal vote back by post, you can hand it in on election day to the returning officer at the District Council or drop it off at a polling station in the respective ward.
  • All postal votes will be mixed with all the others before counting begins, so votes will be kept secret.
John Hill, Chief Executive at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “Voting by post is one of the quickest and easiest ways to have your say in an election. For some people it may be the first time they vote using this method so we have tried to make the advice in the packs as easy to understand as possible. However if anyone has any concerns or problems then please get in touch and we will help.”
