Dog Warden Services

The Council's Dog Warden carries out both enforcement and educational work. The Dog Warden is primarily employed by the Council to pick up reported stray dogs, however, this is just a small part of the job. Other areas of work include:

  • Dealing with dog barking complaints
  • Dog fouling issues and
  • Inspections of premises that keep animals, such as boarding establishments, pet shops and horse riding establishments.

The Dog Warden has been involved in promotional campaigns, encouraging responsible dog ownership and recently the Council has launched its own registration scheme to enable the quick return of stray dogs to their owners.

The Dog Warden can offer advice to dog owners and to those who have a problem relating to dogs.
