Waste and recycling – update to service

Waste and recycling collections will be taking place today in East Cambridgeshire but with difficult road conditions it is not expected that the crews will be able to reach all areas.

Once today’s collections have been picked up as far as possible, crews will return to attempt to complete Monday’s rounds. So residents who missed out yesterday are asked to leave waste out to be collected as it may be possible to reach some areas.

If waste is not picked up by the end of today, please take it in and put it out again on the next due collection day.

Dave White, Waste Strategy Team Leader, said: “We apologise for the problems which people have experienced due to the adverse weather conditions. As I am sure residents are aware, it is very difficult for heavy vehicles and crews to operate on streets and roads which were icy or covered in snow. The crews will try to catch up on missed collections from Monday once today’s rounds have been completed. However the snow and ice makes it very difficult for Veolia, our contracted waste operator, to complete collections, so if your waste is not collected by the end of today, please take it in to be put it out again on the next due collection day.”
