The Vaccinators on Tour, the NHS-powered mobile vaccination team, are grabbing their library passes as they head to Soham Library, near Ely, to offer the COVID-19 vaccination during a set of walk-in clinics, open to anyone aged 16 or over.

Running on Wednesday 1 September and Saturday 4 September, the walk-in clinics will be held on the Vaccinators’ vaccination Tour Bus, staffed by NHS team members from Cambridgeshire Community Services (CCS) NHS Trust.

The bus will be parked up at the library between 1pm-7pm on 1 September and between 10am-4pm on 4 September, and will be offering first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine, no appointments necessary. Patients who had their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at least 8 weeks ago are welcome to hop on the bus to get their second dose. Anyone can attend as long as they are aged 16 or over – you don’t need to bring ID or have an NHS number.

The latest data suggests that up to 23 million infections and 84,000 deaths have been prevented to date in England due to the COVID-19 vaccination programme. We know the vaccination is our best protection against COVID-19, so the local NHS is encouraging everyone in East Cambridgeshire who hasn’t had their jab yet, or who is due their second Pfizer dose, to come along to get the vaccine.

This pop-up clinic is being organised on top of an exciting schedule of walk-in opportunities taking place across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, as well as a great range of bookable appointments on offer at GP practices, community pharmacies and large-scale vaccination sites.

Dr Fiona Head, Medical Director of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group, said:

“We’re really pleased to be visiting Soham Library next week, offering local people the chance to get the vaccine close to home in partnership with our brilliant colleagues from CCS NHS Trust. We know the COVID-19 vaccination is our best protection from the virus, so if you’re 16 or over and you’ve not had your vaccine yet, please come along. If you had your first dose of Pfizer at least 8 weeks ago, you can also visit our Tour Bus to get your second jab.

“This pop-up clinic is another exciting addition to a huge range of options to get your vaccine in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. We have now delivered well over a million vaccines in our area, thanks to incredible teamwork from NHS teams as well as the Local Authorities and volunteers.

“I’d like to say a big “thank you” in particular to GP practices in Soham, who have worked tirelessly over the last 18 months to continue to care for patients. Since the vaccination programme started in December last year, GP staff have made a huge contribution to the delivery of the vaccine locally, all whilst still looking after local people.”

More information about the walk-in clinics being held across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, including other walk-in clinics that are open to those aged 16 and over, can be found via the Vaccinators on Tour website.

People aged 18 or over who would like to get dates in the diary can still choose to book their appointments online or by calling 119. Vaccination teams at each site will be happy to answer any questions you have before you have the vaccine.
