Wednesday will see a variety of pupils from local schools and colleges come together to explore the employment opportunities in the area.

Held at Ely Cathedral, the East Cambridgeshire Career & Skills Show allows businesses to interact with and inspire pupils, as well as informing them of the skills required for their chosen career. The event is organised by a partnership including Ely College, East Cambridgeshire District Council and Form the Future.

Nikki Pritchett, Learning and Enterprise Co-ordinator at Ely College said: "Ely College are really pleased to be part of the planning and organisation of the third East Cambs Careers and Skills Event.  This is a great opportunity for students across East Cambridgeshire to meet local employers where they can gain information on employment opportunities, Apprenticeships and training.  We are very grateful for the continuing support of this event by local employers."

Commenting on this year's event, Councillor Lis Every said: "East Cambridgeshire District Council is very proud to be involved in the organisation of the East Cambridgeshire Career & Skills Show. The show enables young people from over the district to be inspired by what the local area has to offer and allow them to see what they need to achieve to reach their aspirations."

Michaela Eschbach, Co-founder and Director of Form the Future C.I.C which delivers Signpost 2 Skills on behalf of the Greater Cambridge City Deal said: "We are extremely excited to be taking part in this event for the third consecutive year. Last year was a great success and we had a lot of positive feedback from students, schools and businesses. We are building on that success with more schools and businesses this year. Increasing student connections with businesses is critical to inspiring young people to progress and events like this provide a great platform for these interactions to take place."

Schools and colleges attending the event include Ely College, Highfield School, Witchford Village College, Soham Village College, Bottisham Village College, Lakenheath High School and Kings School Ely.

A range of businesses will be exhibiting from Turners of Soham to Deloitte and the Royal Navy.

Sponsors for the event include ARM, polkadotfrog, Michell Instruments, The Employability Partnership, Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Collaborative Outreach Network, East Cambridgshire District Council, Ely Cathedral, Ely College, and Form the Future C.I.C.
