New Website set to Boost Tourism to Ely

A new website designed to showcase the gems of Ely has been launched by the town's tourism ambassadors.

Visit Ely has refreshed the design and feel of www.visitely.org.uk making it easier to navigate and more visually appealing.

It has also been made mobile responsive and has links with social media networks which should increase its reach by 80,000 users in the next year.

Councillor Richard Hobbs, chairman of Community Services said: "The website certainly has the 'wow factor' that will attract, engage and retain our audience.

"I have no doubt that this new commercial website will play an important factor in bringing more visitors into the district and will support the tourism team in their daily quest to promote all our tourism businesses and services."

The previous site, attracted more than 220,000 users per year but was very dated. Many of the images were contributed by local photographer Andrew Sharpe.

The new website provides opportunities for businesses to gain exposure and enhance their promotional platforms with the introduction of banner advertising spaces.

Its aim is to hit 300,000 users within the first year.
