East Cambs Bus, Cycle, Walk consultation - don't leave it too late to have your say

East Cambridgeshire District Council is urging residents to submit their thoughts to the Bus, Cycle, Walk consultation before the deadline on May 31st.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, East Cambs District Council extended the deadline to give residents a greater opportunity to respond.

The aim of the consultation, which began on 9th March, is to identify routes that residents would like to see delivered across the district, or where improvements could be made.

Councillor David Brown, Chairman of the Finance and Assets Committee at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said:

“To date, we have had a good number of responses to the consultation and the deadline extension has come at a time when the spotlight on cycling and walking is at its highest. As these options become a part in what the new normal will look like post-pandemic, I would urge residents to think about the improvements and additions to their area that could make it easier for them to get to work, college and access sports and entertainment facilities in the future.

“I would encourage residents to get involved in this consultation and have their say on bus, cycling and walking routes throughout the district.”

The council is asking those who have completed printed versions of the questionnaires but have yet to send them in to safely post the questionnaire to the Council in a local post box while taking outdoors exercise or, if self-isolating, to complete the questionnaire online by visiting the East Cambridgeshire District Council website www.eastcambs.gov.uk/buscyclewalk so that they can undertake social distancing but still be a part of the consultation.

Councillor Anna Bailey, Leader of East Cambridgeshire District Council, said:

“The Council wants to consider the views of as many residents in East Cambridgeshire as possible.

"The responses from the consultation will allow the Council to use the views of residents to inform business cases and funding bids that will be presented to the Combined Authority.

"We’re urging anyone who hasn’t yet completed the survey to do so before the deadline on 31st May.”
