District Council provides free Christmas event with Santa for East Cambs children

East Cambridgeshire District Council is providing two virtual opportunities for children in the district to be able to see Santa ahead of Christmas this year.
The district council has organised two one-hour virtual Christmas experiences on Thursday 10th December and Friday 18th December, both taking place at 6pm.

Hosted by Santa, the experience will include a treasure hunt, a virtual sleigh ride, an interactive Christmas quiz and there will be just enough time for a singalong.
The event will also feature festive friends such as Tiny the Elf, Jolly Shivers the Snowman and Ruby Skip the Reindeer.
Making it more interactive, throughout the event, parents will also be able to type into the comments box of the live stream and these comments will be sent to Santa.

Parents will be able to sign up to one of the events through the council’s website and access the live stream either through Facebook Live or YouTube.

Councillor Lis Every, Chairman of East Cambridgeshire District Council, said:
“It will be hard for children not to be able to visit Santa in person this year, so as a council, we wanted to be able to provide an exciting alternative for families.

Councillor Anna Bailey, Leader of East Cambridgeshire District Council, said:
“We really appreciate the sacrifices our residents have had to make to protect the district and keep COVID-19 rates low in the district.
“It’s only by continuing this hard work we can defeat this, and we wanted to do our bit to provide some cheer to families at this time”

Ahead of the event, those registered will receive a PDF pack with the clue files and instructions for the parents of the guests. The parents should print out the five clue points. If they don’t have a printer, an alternative file with line drawings is available, that can be copied or traced.
