In conjunction with National Inclusion Week, we are launching a five week consultation to gather views on our new Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy.
The opening of the consultation follows a unanimous vote by members at the Finance and Assets committee on 24 September to progress tinto the consultation stage. The consultation gives you the opportunity to review and submit your comments on the policy.
The new Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy aims to expand on the Single Equality scheme that was previously in place, as well as set out the Council's commitment to providing an inclusive and supportive environment for staff, members, contractors and visitors that is free from discrimination.
Following the consultation, responses will be collated and incorporated into the policy, which will then be presented to the Finance and Assets committee for formal adoption.
Councillor David Brown, Chairman of the Finance and Assets committee, said:
"The proposed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy is an important step being taken by the Council to ensure that they continue to provide a supportive environment which is free from discrimination for everyone, as well as outlining and taking more action on the matter. The policy sets out the actions already being undertaken to promote equality and diversity as well as outlning our responsibilities and commitments for 2020-2023. We are urging all members of the public to take part and have their say on this important matter during the consultation period."
The consultation is open for comments until 30 November 2020.
