Central government has announced that the COVID-19 Small Business Grant and the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Funding programmes will close on Friday 28th August 2020.

The Council has contacted eligible businesses to notify them of the deadline. If you have not received an email or a letter, we ask that you check the eligibility criteria on the Government website.

If you still think that you are eligible then please email your name, business name, business address and phone number to covid19businessgrants@eastcambs.gov.uk or telephone the Council on 01353 665555 as soon as possible, as payments cannot be made after this date.

The measures relating to business rates are being administered by local authorities or in the case of East Cambridgeshire Anglia Revenues Partnership (ARP) who collect business rates on the Councils behalf.

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority Covid-19 Capital Grant Fund 

The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority has launched a Covid-19 Capital Grant Fund which offers grants for new capital investments projects.

Small business grant funding of £10,000 for all business in receipt of small business rate relief or rural rate relief

The government will provide additional funding for local authorities to support small businesses that already pay little or no business rates because of small business rate relief (SBBR). This will provide a one-off grant of £10,000 to businesses currently eligible for SBRR or rural rate relief, to help meet their ongoing business costs.
If your business is eligible, you will be contacted by your local authority – you do not need to apply.
 
Emails or letter (if we do not have an email address for you) have been sent to all businesses eligible for the Small Business Grant.

Cash grants for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses

The Retail and Hospitality Grant Scheme provides businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors with a cash grant of up to £25,000 per property.
  • Businesses in these sectors with a property that has a rateable value of up to £15,000 may be eligible for a grant of £10,000.
  • Businesses in these sectors with a property that has a rateable value of over £15,000 and less than £51,000 may be eligible for a grant of £25,000.
If your business is eligible, you will be contacted by your local authority - you do not need to apply.

Business rates holiday for retail, hospitality, leisure and nursery businesses

A business rates retail holiday for retail, hospitality, leisure and nursery businesses in England has been introduced for the 2020 to 2021 tax year.

Eligibility

You are eligible for the business rates holiday if:
  1. Your business is based in England.
  2. Your business is in the retail, hospitality and/or leisure sector or is a nursery.
Properties that will benefit from the relief will be occupied hereditaments that are wholly or mainly being used:
  • as shops, restaurants, cafes, drinking establishments, cinemas and live music venues
  • for assembly and leisure
  • as hotels, guest & boarding premises and self-catering accommodation
  • occupied by providers of Ofsted Early Years Register
  • wholly or mainly used for provision of the Early Years Foundation stage

There is no action for you

ARP have sent out new bills for 2020/2021 to all businesses eligible for the business rates holiday.
