The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

On 6 February 2022, Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee which marks 70 years of dedicated service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
To celebrate this occasion, events and initiatives will take place throughout the year, culminating in a four-day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June. This bank holiday will allow communities and people throughout the UK to join together and celebrate the milestone.

What's happening in East Cambridgeshire?

Tuesday 29 March

Jubilee celebrations for East Cambridgeshire District Council started with the planting of a Platinum Jubilee Tree. School children help council plant Jubilee Tree in Brinkley.

Wednesday 11 May

Winners of our 'Plant a tree for the Jubilee' artwork competition are announced.

Monday 30 May

Cambridgeshire's largest tree mazes, known as the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Tree mazes, will be officially opened at Ely Country Park.

Thursday 2 June

The Queen’s Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour) takes place in London.

Platinum Jubilee Beacons lit across the country.

Friday 3 June

Ely Markets is holding a Platinum Jubilee Market Celebration between 9:00am and 4:00pm. There will be street food, crafts, live music, dancing and family fun. Markets are also being held on 4 and 5 June. For more information visit Ely Markets.

There will also be a Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul's, London as well as events taking place throughout the Jubilee Weekend at Ely Cathedral.

Saturday 4 June

The Derby at Epsom Downs.

Platinum Party at the Palace, from 7:30pm.

Sunday 5 June

The Big Jubilee Lunch.

The Platinum Jubilee Pageant.

Thursday 23 June

Cambridgeshire County Day

As part of the celebrations, the first ever Cambridgeshire County Day will take place at the July Course, Newmarket, Cambridgeshire on Thursday 23 June. The event will showcase and celebrate the very best from Cambridgeshire business, charity, community and public sectors.
