Welcome to Waste & Recycling
Frozen materials in green waste bins
Collection crews are currently experiencing problems emptying some green bins where material is frozen inside the bin. If as a result the waste does not empty when lifted by the vehicle mechanism then the bin will be left with the contents still in it. The lid of the bin will be left open to indicate that the crew has tried to empty the bin. Please ensure that the waste is loosened within the bin when presenting it for collection on the next scheduled collection day. The Council is unable to return to empty frozen bins before the next scheduled collection. We apologise for any inconvenience that this causes.
Veolia currently provides the waste and recycling collection service on behalf of the Council.
East Cambs are proud to be part of the Recycling in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough (RECAP) Partnership, which was granted Beacon Council for waste and recycling 2006/07. Beacon status is awarded to authorities who have shown innovation or achievement in specific fields.
AmeyCespa have recently taken over the contract to collect tins and cans from the bring sites in the district. In order to reduce the number of banks at sites they have combined these with the existing plastic bottle banks.
