Local residents have flocked to give their feedback on the ideas and concepts put forward for the future of Littleport.
At a meeting of the Littleport Masterplan Working Party, Members will hear how plans for a new school, improved footpaths/cycleway and employment opportunities were amongst the most important issues for local people.
These ideas will now be used to draft the Masterplan for Littleport which will shape how the town can change, develop and grow over the next twenty years.
This document will go out for public consultation in the late autumn/winter ahead of a final version being produced in 2011.
Councillor Peter Moakes, Chairman of the Littleport MasterplanWorking Party, said: “Looking through the feedback we have received from the public exhibitions in Littleport, it is very clear how passionate and committed the town's residents are to creating a better place to live. It is really important that as we move forward we take into account the views of the people who live and work in Littleport - without them the town would not thrive.
"So we are working hard to develop the ideas which have been put forward and the concept ideas we initially had to come up with for a Masterplan for Littleport. This will be a document which will set the agenda for the town's future. We will take into account the need for more employment opportunities, improved natural surroundings and transport links. I think we have already shown that we mean business by successfully campaigning for a new secondary school to come to Littleport and I feel that by working together we can achieve even more in the years to come."
