Now that all the turkeys have been eaten, presents opened and crackers pulled - Christmas is sadly coming to an end so residents in East Cambridgeshire are being reminded how they can recycle their real Christmas trees.

The trees should be left out on recycling days next to the brown sacks for collection by the green waste crew.

Dave White, Waste Strategy Team Leader at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: "It is always sad when Christmas comes to an end as we all pack away our decorations for another year. This January we are reminding residents they can recycle their real Christmas trees by leaving it out for collection when their recycling is collected and it will be taken to be turned into compost.

“People don’t have to worry about chopping up their tree to fit it in the brown sacks – just leave the tree with your brown sacks for collection. Alternatively if you don’t want to wait until your recycling day then you can take your real tree to the Witchford Recycling Centre, where it can be placed in the green waste.”
