Ideas and concepts of what Burwell could look like 20 years from now are being put out for public debate and scrutiny.

Local residents can see the options which are being considered for the Burwell Masterplan and give their views on how their village can change and improve over the next twenty years at exhibitions being held on:

*    Wednesday 29 February, 3pm – 8pm, at the Mandeville Hall, Tan House Lane, Burwell.
*    At ‘Burwell at Large’ on Saturday 3 March, 1pm – 5pm, and Sunday 4th March, 2pm– 5pm, at Burwell Village College Primary School.
*    Wednesday 7 March, 9am – 12 noon, at the Mandeville Hall, Tan House Lane, Burwell.

The plans for Burwell will look at building communities and green spaces in the area in a way that maintains the character of the village. The ideas for the future development of Burwell have been put together following the feedback from consultation last September and the background research.

Anyone coming along to the exhibitions will be able to talk to council officers and give feedback through questionnaires.

Councillor Peter Moakes, Chairman of the Burwell Masterplan Working Party, said: “Over the last few months, residents in Burwell have shown how much they care about their village both now and in the future. One of their main priorities is to keep the sense of community spirit which has built up over the years. To ensure we get every view point and perspective it is really important that people come along and have their say on the consultation.

“Without feedback from the people who live and work in the village we cannot plan for a future which will meet their needs. The exhibitions, which will take place over the next two weeks, will ask residents to look at a range of ideas and concepts for areas which we feel can improve Burwell.”

If people are unable to attend the exhibitions responses to the consultation can be made through the consultation questionnaire available from Burwell Post Office, the Jubilee Reading Rooms, Burwell Community Sports Centre or on request by telephoning 01353 665555. The questionnaire can also be completed on-line at www.eastcambs.gov.uk, all of the consultation information can also be viewed and downloaded from the website. The consultation period runs from 27 February – 12 March 2012.
