Due to adverse weather conditions the waste and recycling service in East Cambridgeshire has been disrupted this week.
The snow and ice has made it very difficult for Veolia, our contracted waste operator, to complete collections in all areas of the district.
Following an assessment of the conditions today, the following decisions have been made:
* Any collections not picked up from Monday 6 February to Wednesday 8 February will now be made on the next due collection day.
* Any collections not completed from Thursday 9 February and Friday 10 February will now be made on Monday 13 February so please ensure waste is out ready for collection at 7:00 am.
The latest updates on the waste and recycling service will be available via www.eastcambs.gov.uk or by calling 01353 665555.
Dave White, Waste Strategy Team Leader, said: “We apologise for the problems which residents have experienced this week due to the adverse weather conditions. It has been very difficult for heavy vehicles and crews to operate on streets and roads which were icy or covered in snow. While we have tried to catch up on missed collections this week, the conditions have meant the contractors have always been playing catch up. However we hope that next week, collections can return to normal.”
