Due to adverse weather conditions the waste and recycling service in East Cambridgeshire has been suspended today (Monday 6 February).
The suspension mostly affects residents in Aldreth, Eairth Bridge, Haddenham, Streatham, Sutton, Wilburton, Chittering, Grunty Fen, Isleham, Wentworth, Witchford and depending on the weather the crews will look to collect black bags and recycling tomorrow. If weather conditions do not improve then the waste and recycling which has not been collected will be picked up on the next due collection day.
The latest updates on the waste and recycling service will be available via www.eastcambs.gov.uk or by calling 01353 665555.
Elsewhere, all other Council services are open and members of the Parks and Open Spaces team are currently clearing and gritting main paths in the Ely City Centre.
Dave White, Waste Strategy Team Leader at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: "We apologise for the suspension of the waste and recycling service in East Cambridgeshire today but I am sure residents understand it would be difficult for the crews to operate on streets and roads which were icy or covered in snow. The contractors, Veolia, hope to catch up tomorrow if conditions improve. If, however, this is not possible we must ask residents to take their waste back in and put it out again on their next due collection day. "
