Young and old people throughout East Cambridgeshire will benefit from grants approved this week totalling nearly £3,000.
At Monday's (5 July) Community Services Committee, Councillors heard how applications for funding had come from a charity looking to help older residents and a not for profit company needing help to provide help running an after school club.
The funding for the following projects comes from the East Cambridgeshire Community Fund. Those who have benefitted include:
- COPE - Cambridgeshire Older People's Enterprise who needed £1,500 to help fund the running costs, activities and the development of the local branch which improves the lives of older people
- The K9 project applied for £995 to run a holiday and after school club with young people focusing on confidence building, skills development and responsible dog ownership
Cllr Peter Cresswell,Chairman of the Community Services Committee, said: “In these very difficult economic times it is pleasing to see how money from our own small grant scheme has been spent. Each application for funding tells its own story and I know the money will make a big difference to the lives of many people. Unfortunately our tight financial resources mean we can not help as many people as we would like to but we will continue to ensure the money we have is spent on projects that will make a difference.
