With the success of the recent Fenland Ride in aid of Help for Heroes, residents in East Cambridgeshire are being reminded that a canter can do wonders for your health.
The Sports Development Team at East Cambridgeshire District Council is promoting the activity to residents as a different way of exercising.
In recent months, the team have worked with The Sedgeway Equestrian Centre in Witchford and Coach House Riding School outside Newmarket to encourage people to take up something different.
Cllr Peter Cresswell,Chairman of the Community Services Committee, at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: "Our District has a fine and noble tradition of horse racing, with some of the best horses in the UK, if not the world based in our district. The industry brings a huge amount of investment into East Cambridgeshire through racing, stud farms and tourism. However, horse riding does not have to be the preserve of the rich - we can all get involved.
"Over the last few months, the Sports Development Team at the Council has worked really hard with local equestrian centres to help them encourage new and old riders to come along. Horse riding is a great form of exercise and is a great way to see the wonderful countryside we are blessed with."
