UK Power Networks will be removing an ash tree on their substation site to the front of the East Cambridgeshire District Council Offices on Nutholt Lane in Ely.
This is due to the significant structural damage being done to the boundary wall that is now in a potential state of collapse.
This tree is due to be cut down early on Saturday 14 May and the wall will be dismantled and rebuilt.
Cathy White, Senior Trees Officer at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “It is always a great shame to remove any tree but unfortunately in this case the roots of the tree are causing severe damage to a wall that is next to an electricity sub station. In terms of public safety, UK Power Networks will remove the tree and then the wall will be rebuilt to prevent any incident with the substation."
