Repairs to tackle the problem of loose tiles in an Ely swimming pool are well underway and set to finish early next week.
The issue of loose tiles has closed the learner pool for the beginning of the school summer holidays.
Workman are currently donning wetsuits and aqualungs to replace and stick down the loose tiles.
Cllr Peter Cresswell,Chairman of the Community Services Committee, at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: "We are currently working with our contractors Leisure Connection to fix a problem where some of the tiles are lifting away from the floor of the learner pool. Since we became aware of the problem, we have been working urgently to resolve the issues and if everything goes to plan the pool should be ready to reopen at weekend. I would stress that the main pool has still been open for use during this time.
“This unfortunate problem does highlight the age of the Paradise Pool and the District's need for new leisure facilities which will give all our residents the opportunity to access a 21st century facility. We are continuing to work on these exciting plans and will be consulting on these ideas during the forthcoming weeks."
Anyone planning on visiting the Paradise Pool at the weekend is advised to call 01353 665 481.
