With Christmas decorations now being packed away, residents in East Cambridgeshire are being reminded they can recycle their real Christmas trees.

Residents should leave them out on their recycling days next to brown sacks for collection by the organics crew.

The festive waste and recycling collections are still in operation as the crews catch up following the bank holidays but normal service will return from Monday 14 January.

Dave White, Waste Strategy Team Leader at East Cambridgeshire District Council Committee at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: "With the festive period coming to a close, we are reminding residents how they can recycle their real Christmas trees. All they have to do is leave their old tree out for collection when their recycling is collected.

"The trees are turned into soil improver at the MBT plant at Waterbeach which is then available to help gardens grow across the county. So your Christmas tree doesn’t have to be thrown into a landfill, it can be recycled for everyone’s benefit."
