The Ross Peers Leisure Centre has been the site of many a great football match but thanks to £20,000 of Section 106 money no one can now blame the pitch for a wonky shot.
The five a side pitch outside the centre now has now been refurbished following work between East Cambridgeshire District Council and Soham Town Council.
Since new pitch has been in place The Ross Peers Sports Centre has received great reviews from users.
Cllr Peter Cresswell,Chairman of the Community Services Committee, at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: "The money we obtain from developers who come to our district has funded many of the community projects we use every day and take for granted. From parks to shelters to community centres - so many places have benefitted.
"The new astro turf pitch at the Ross Peers Sports Centre is just another project in a long line of community projects which have been funded. I have seen for myself how good the pitch looks and everyone said it was great to play on. As the World Cup gets ready to kick off – I can’t think of anywhere better to go to practise the skills you have just seen on TV."
