A community will come together next week to share a special cake in celebration of the first birthday of a market which has increased footfall to a town.
Adams Community Market was launched in Littleport, after a butchers’, greengrocers, bakery and grocery store shut shortly after closure of the bank and pharmacy too.
The aim of the market was to rejuvenate the town centre, support the remaining businesses and increase trade. It has been hugely successful.
Stall holders sell bread, cakes, eggs, fruit, vegetables and meat on the first Saturday of every month – and they are coming together to mark their first year of business on 3rd September.
The market is just one of the initiatives of Littleport’s Town Team who have worked in conjunction with Adams Heritage Centre.
Councillor David Ambrose-Smith, chairman of Littleport’s Town Team said: “The Adams Heritage Centre creates the perfect backdrop for our traders and there is a real buzz each month as people come together to shop and have a catch up.
“We are very grateful to our loyal traders as well as customers and are looking forward to sharing our birthday cake with the whole community.”
As well as enjoying a slice of cake, the birthday celebrations will feature a raffle to win a hamper of goodies donated by the traders.
