Residents in East Cambridgeshire are getting the chance to have their say on the plans for the proposed new leisure complex for the whole of the district.
Over the next few weeks, officers will be going around East Cambridgeshire attending different events and locations to ask the views of people who may use the new centre when it is built.
Plans for environmentally friendly and sustainable building currently include proposals for a 25m six lane swimming pool, small children's leisure water area, a six court sports hall and multi purpose rooms including a dance studio as well as being a transport hub for car and cycle parking plus an underpass linking the site with Ely.
Through BOSH events, exhibitions in towns and via the Council's website, images and details of the proposals will be displayed. Residents can then complete a comment form to help architects ensure the right mix of activities is incorporated as the concepts develop into concrete plans.
Cllr Peter Cresswell, Chairman of the Community Services Committee, at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: "As we have said many times, the new leisure facility is designed to meet the needs of the whole of East Cambridgeshire - this is why it is so important to ask what the
people who will use it think of the concept ideas. It is very easy to look at the artists' impressions and think that we have got everything right but all good developments talk to local residents about what they think, which is exactly what we are doing.
"Over the next few weeks, officers from the sports and leisure team will be attending a host of events to ask people what they think. If you miss them then we have all the information on our website with a comment form for you to fill in. This is your chance to let us know what you think of the plans so far - have we got the right mix of facilities, have all the transport options been considered and is there anything else we have missed. We promise your comments will be passed onto the architects in charge of developing the exciting plans ahead of the formal planning process which will take place later in the year."
