Two local projects are set to benefit from grants issued from East Cambridgeshire District Council.

East Cambs Family Project, which runs a support programme for women and children who are experiencing difficulties in their day to day lives due to domestic violence and ACE (Association for Children Young People in East Cambs) who provide positive activities for young people in sports, arts and the media are to receive grants totalling £1,970.

The East Cambridgeshire Community Fund Grant Scheme is a funding programme to help provide community run services specifically for ‘Young People, Older People, Rural Communities and People with Disabilities’.

Councillor Richard Hobbs, Chairman of the Community and Environment Sub-Committee at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “We live in very difficult financial times at present with all of us having to look very closely at how we spend our money. Despite this, we know how important it is to support local community groups who are helping those who are most vulnerable. The East Cambs Family Project and ACE are both excellent examples of initiatives which have at their heart a desire to assist those who need it most in these tough times and we were happy to approve their grant applications.”
