Ely is the place to come for the best Christmas gifts and food available at the award-winning Markets.
This year there will be a Special Christmas Market on Friday 21 December which combines the best of all Ely’s Markets. There will be a great range of stalls from the Farmers’ Market, Craft & Collectable and General Markets plus additional extra special Christmas traders.
Seasonal tasters, entertainment and perhaps a special visit from a certain portly man with a beard as white as snow, twinkly eyes and merry dimples will make a trip to the market an essential part of the build up to Christmas.
Then on Saturday 22 December, the ever popular Farmers’ Market takes place along side Craft & Collectables stalls. There will be everything from seasonal local vegetables, rare breed meat and fine cheese to beautifully crafted Christmas wreaths and seasonal floral decorations plus a range of unique crafts and gifts.
Tracey Harding, Team Leader Tourism and Town Centre Services at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “Ely Markets are a great place to buy last minute presents and fantastic food from a range of local producers. This year, the traders and the Council have stepped up their efforts to create the perfect festive mood to bag some great gifts and bargains as well as wonderful delicacies for your Christmas table. So come a long to our Markets in the build up to Christmas as there will be plenty of reasons to really get into the Christmas spirit this year.”
After Christmas, things return to normal with the General Market on Thursday 27 December and on Saturday 29 December the Craft & Collectables Markets will return as normal. The first Farmers’ Market of the New Year will be on Saturday 12 January.
