At East Cambridgeshire District Council’s full council meeting on Wednesday 16th November, members decided to accept the second stage draft of the Local Plan, enabling the Council to put a series of proposed developments to public consultation.

The Further Draft Local Plan has been prepared following a review of the existing Local Plan 2015, and following consideration of comments received on the Preliminary Draft Local Plan, Feb 2016. It identifies a requirement for 11,400 new dwellings and 6,900 new jobs.

Councillor Joshua Schumann said: “I would urge all residents to look at the proposed plan and have their say. This is a really positive move for the residents of East Cambridgeshire and is an opportunity for everyone to help shape the development of the local area.”

The consultation for the Further Draft Local Plan is likely to take place for six weeks, between 10th January and 20th February 2017. This timeframe avoids consulting over the Christmas and New Year period.

A final version of the Local Plan is scheduled to be produced in spring 2017.

Details of the schemes which will be going forward for public consultation will be made available in the New Year.
