Over the two weeks of the Christmas and New Year holiday, the waste and recycling collection days in East Cambridgeshire will be just one day later than normal.

This means residents should put out their black bags, brown bags and black box recycling a day after their usual days for collection – even if this lands on one of the Bank Holidays.

Normal Collection Day Revised Collection
Monday 26 December  Tuesday 27 December (Bank Holiday)
Tuesday 27 December Wednesday 28 December
Wednesday 28 December Thursday 29 December
Thursday 29 December Friday 30 December
Friday 30 December Saturday 31 December
Monday 2 January Tuesday 3 January
Tuesday 3 January Wednesday 4 January
Wednesday 4 January Thursday 5 January
Thursday 5 January Friday 6 January
Friday 6 January Saturday 7 January

Dave White, Waste Strategy Team Leader at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: "With the way the bank holidays have landed this year, we have tried to minimise the disruption to everyone's waste and recycling collections. So this year there will only be a day to wait before rubbish and recycling can be collected from your kerbside. The changes will last until Saturday 7 January when the collections will go back to normal.

“Throughout Christmas, the Waste Recycling Centres in the district will also be open except for Christmas Eve afternoon, Christmas, Boxing and New Years Day. They have extensive facilities to recycle nearly all the waste you generate over the holiday period, if you can’t wait for the normal collections.”
