Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Vehicle Licensing

Firstly you will need to complete a driving test with the Driving Standards Agency.  It is important to note that you must have held a full driving licence for at least one full year before any application can be considered.

We have produced a Taxi and Private Hire Guide to offer assistance to anyone involved in operating and driving Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Vehicles.  This guide sets out as simply as possible the necessary procedures for vehicle testing, renewal of licences and the issue of various types of licence.  The guide should be read before completing any application forms, and is available below:
