Local Strategic Partnership

Local agencies, businesses and the voluntary and community sector have been facing significant challenges over recent years in delivering the services that our communities want and deserve.   Collectively we have been working hard to deliver more for less, looking at ways to work together to tackle the issues that most affect the residents of East Cambridgeshire.

In 2011 the East Cambridgeshire Strategic Partnership (ECSP) took the decision to streamline its structure and focus resources on the ground where it mattered most.  Since that time the partnership landscape has evolved a great deal with new partnerships emerging to improve the social, economic and environmental wellbeing and health of those who live or work in Cambridgeshire.

The ECSP Board recently reviewed this partnership working and has concluded that there is now no obvious way for the ECSP to add extra value to these arrangements directly. It is clear that there are a number of opportunities for current ECSP members to directly influence the agenda of the existing and emerging partnerships and that this is where we should be focusing our efforts.

In addition, the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has confirmed Ministers intentions to repeal of the requirement for Local Authorities to produce a Sustainable Community Strategy at the next legislative opportunity – in effect scrapping the primary reason for the creation of the ECSP.

Therefore the ECSP was dissolved with immediate effect at its meeting on 11th June 2012.  You can be assured that all partners remain fully committed to partnership working to deliver services and improve the quality of life for the residents of East Cambridgeshire.

Please use the link below to view the last ECSP newsletter, which contains information about some of the partnerships we are involved in.

Finally I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the individuals and organisations that have been involved in the work of the ECSP over the years and hope that the newsletter gives a flavour of the ECSP’s many achievements.
