The JSNA contains the most up to date information on all aspects of health in Cambridgeshire, including the demography of the Cambridgeshire population, the leading causes of ill-health and inequalities locally, deprivation, plus information or links to information regarding the wider determinants of health, such as employment, education and housing. It also highlights where there are gaps in our knowledge, or gaps in our services and is designed to help inform decision making about health.

Each of the districts including East Cambs are actively involved with the JSNA and have members on the JSNA Steering Groups as well as on the Health & Wellbeing Officer Group.

The JSNA website clearly supports the recently announced Big Society programme by improving access to information on the health & wellbeing needs of the local population. It is hoped the information will assist individuals to make healthier life choices and will enable the commissioning of services that support the needs of the most vulnerable communities. It also promotes integration and partnership working between the Council, NHS, districts, voluntary organisations and other local services.
