ECOL Access Point Facilities

Most Access Points have two PCs which are loaded with a range of software designed to provide a comprehensive range of teaching modules. Such software includes

1. Microsoft Windows XP Professional Operating System
2. Microsoft Office which includes:

  • Word
  • Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • Publisher
  • Access

3. Adobe Photoshop Elements

In addition each Access Point has a high resolution colour printer and scanner.

A digital camera can also be made available on loan to users of an access point (subject to certain conditions.)

Also available are items of equipment which may help learners who experience difficulties in using standard PC equipment. This equipment can be made available by arrangement with your Access Point Organiser.

If you are already studying one of the home IT courses such as Learn Direct, by registering at an Access Point, you can continue your studying with the assistance of a tutor for those moments when you need some guidance. (You can also use our Internet connection for free!)

Our comprehensive range of equipment is designed to develop your computer knowledge, whether you are a complete beginner or existing user looking to enhance your existing skills.

Broadband Facilities

East Cambs Online is now connected to the Cambridgeshire Community Network, which provides users with a broadband connection. This faciltiy is provided to allow a greater scope for online learning programmes, such as Learn Direct which require a faster connection speed not available with the dial-up facility. It is also open to the local community who may have their own dial-up facility at home, but would like to make use of a faster connection.
