Equal Opportunities Working Group (EOWG)
The Equal Opportunities Working Group (EOWG) consisting of representatives from Management Team, Council Members, UNISON and employees meets once every two months to steer the Council successfully through each stage of the Equality Framework for Local Government.
The role of the group is to:
- Assist with the development of all Equality Policies and Action Plans as appropriate.
- Assist with the communication and mainstreaming of equalities into Council policy and practice.
- Co-ordinate, sustain, monitor and review the Council's performance and progress in complying with equalities legislative requirements and good practice.
- Assist with the development of the service equality objectives and appropriate targets using the Council's Performance Management Framework.
- Co-ordinate the implementation and development of equal opportunities monitoring across all Council services.
- Identify and co-ordinate the development of initiatives aimed at promoting continuous improvement in service delivery and employment.
